One of my favorite authors on philosophy and spirituality is Eckhart Tolle, primarily I believe because its widely accessible and at least some part of it is relate able to anyone who reads his books. So far I've only read A New Earth twice and am about to embark on reading through the power of now the second time soon. He borrows not only from the bible but also from eastern spiritual sources as well, such as Buddhism and Zen. Some of it is a bit woo woo, new age and might be confusing or cryptic but both his books A New Earth as well as The Power of Now are two of the best books on spirituality I have come across.
From my experiences, I have felt a lot of disconnection in life, as well as some other people, I believe it has a lot to do with conflicts with the ego and also with the present moment. Both of which Eckhart Tolle goes into great depth on in his books, I don't proclaim to fully understand all the concepts, ideas, and such in both of his books but feel as time and life goes on I'm coming to realize them more and more.
